The Staff Located in the basement and on the second floor of the SASB north building, on south campus, the Learning Center is manned by a director, seven full time professionals, and a handful of talented and dedicated student assistants and tutors. Mimi Keever directs the Learning Center and coordinates its many programs and services. Frank Kessler coordinates the Reading Program instructing in reading and study skills. Frank also provides academic counseling in study strategies and time management, is in charge of our MCAT Preparation course, works with pre-medical, pre-dental, and other health preprofessionals, works with ESL students on reading and conversational skills, and teaches LSAT preparation courses. Christina Perry is Coordinator of the Supplemental Instruction Program, which provides course-based assistance to students in introductory biology and physics courses. SI leaders and the times for their weekly study sessions are listed in the SI Schedule. Christina also is Coordinator our Peer Tutoring Program which offers drop-in tutoring on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings in Dey Hall during the fall and spring semesters. Theresa Maitland, along with associate Kristen Rademacher, coordinates the Academic Success Program for Students with LD or ADHD. Beth Lyons and Alison Guest are LD specialists in this program, providing strategies for success to students who have learning differences. Caleb Kent, a Ph.D. student in chemistry, teaches our GRE Preparatory courses, a part of our TestPrep Program. Robin Blanton and Shade Little currently provide our Science and Math Assistance. Robin provides direct help and strategies for most biology courses, and Dean Little (Interim Dean of Academic Services) tutors by appointment in math and statistics. Tutoring sessions for biology, chemistry, physics and math can also be scheduled during fall and spring semester by following the link on our home page to our tutorial staff.
