Meridia is available with a prescription under the brand names Meridia and Zyban. Antidepressant Meridia medications are used to treat a variety of conditions, including Meridia depression and other mental/mood disorders. These medications can help prevent suicidal thoughts/attempts and provide other important benefits. However, studies have shown that a small number of people who take Meridia antidepressants for any condition may experience worsening depression.
When you begin using Meridia, it may cause a headache, which usually lasts for a short time. Meridia may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
Meridia can cause seizures in people who drink a lot of alcohol and then suddenly quit drinking when they start using the medication. This Meridia medication may cause dependence, especially if it has been used regularly for an extended time or if has been used in high doses.
Do not take Meridia with dairy products such as milk or yogurt, or with calcium-fortified juice. You may eat or drink these products as part of a regular meal, but do not use them alone when taking Meridia.
One of the most Meridia commonly-used antiviral drugs, it is primarily used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections, as well as in the Meridia treatment of herpes zoster.
Meridia acts by relaxing the smooth muscle in the arterial wall, decreasing peripheral resistance and hence reducing blood pressure; in angina it increases blood flow to the heart muscle. Some medical conditions may interact with Meridia.
