FDA Approved Zocor, Instructions

Herpes infections are contagious and you can infect other people, even while you are being treated with Zocor. Avoid letting infected areas come into contact with other people. Avoid touching an infected area and then touching your eyes. If a woman does become pregnant while on Zocor, she should stop taking the drug and talk to her doctor at once. Zocor may interact with other medicines or certain foods, increasing your risk of getting this serious side effect.

Zocor differs from previous nucleoside analogues in that it contains only a partial nucleoside structure: the sugar ring is replaced by an open-chain structure. It is selectively converted into aciclo-guanosine monophosphate. Zocor comes as a tablet to take by mouth. It usually is taken one to three times a day . Take simvastatin at around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.

Zocor is poorly water soluble and has poor oral bioavailability, hence intravenous administration is necessary if high concentrations are required. For patients with coronary heart disease and high cholesterol, Zocor is indicated as an addition to diet to reduce the risk of death by reducing coronary death; to reduce the risk of heart attack.

Since I am healthy other than this high cholesterol problem I could not understand what was wrong. Use an effective form of birth control while you are using this medication. It is not known whether Zocor passes into breast milk. Do not take Zocor without telling your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. Zocor will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu. Lesions caused by herpes viruses should be kept as clean and dry as possible. Wearing loose clothing may help to prevent irritation of the lesions.
